500 Signatures and Growing: The Campaign to Bring Skateboarding into GCSE PE

We’re incredibly grateful to share that the Skateboarding for GCSE PE – England campaign has now passed 500 signatures.
This is a fantastic early milestone and a strong sign that the skateboarding community — and many people beyond it — believe it’s time to start a conversation about recognising skateboarding within GCSE Physical Education.
Over the past weeks we’ve seen amazing support from individuals, skateparks, skate schools, and people who simply believe that young people should have more ways to stay active and develop their skills.
Why This Conversation Matters
At TR7 Skatepark we see every day how skateboarding helps young people grow. It teaches balance, coordination, perseverance and creativity, but it also builds confidence and community.
For many young people, skateboarding is the activity that keeps them engaged in physical activity. Yet despite its growth worldwide — and its recognition as an Olympic sport since 2020 — students in England still cannot choose skateboarding as an activity within GCSE PE.
Our campaign simply asks for skateboarding to be reviewed as a potential option, giving students another pathway to stay active through something they are genuinely passionate about.
Support From Skateparks
We’re incredibly thankful to the skateparks that have already reached out to say they support the initiative.
So far the supporters list includes:
- TR7 Skatepark
- Graystone
- Baysixty6
- LS-Ten
- The Lodge
- The Skate Club
- Skate Farm
- School of Skate
- Source Park
- Pitt St Skatepark
- Shredenhams
- Campus Skateparks
Seeing skateparks across the country backing this conversation shows how much belief there is in skateboarding’s positive impact on young people.
If you run a skatepark or skate school and would like to be included in the supporters list, we would love to hear from you.
The Next Step: Schools
As the campaign grows, the next important step is to begin engaging with schools and PE departments.
Teachers and schools will play an essential role in helping move this conversation forward. Many skateparks already work with schools through lessons, youth programmes and community initiatives, and we believe this experience could help inform discussions around skateboarding as a potential GCSE PE option.
If you are a teacher, work in education, or know a school that may be interested in the conversation, we would love to hear from you.
Help Us Reach the Next Milestone
Our next goal is to reach 1,000 signatures.
Every signature helps show the level of support for reviewing skateboarding as an option within GCSE PE.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign so far. The response has already been incredibly encouraging, and we’re excited to see how the conversation develops in the coming months.
